About our Surgeon…
Dr. Steven P. Cudia, Director of VSS, is board-certified in Canine and Feline Practice by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners.  Dr. Cudia received his veterinary medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994.  He is a native of Toms River and now resides there with his family.

Prior to veterinary school, he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Scranton and completed course work toward a Master of Laboratory Animal Science degree at Hahnemann University.

Following a year in private practice, he completed a one-year Rotating Internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. He participated in both the Basic and Advanced Courses on the Surgical Fixation of Fractures at The Ohio State University and has authored two peer-reviewed articles and an abstract. Dr. Cudia has been employed with Garden State Veterinary Specialists, Inc and Red Bank Veterinary Hospital & Referral Service and has provided surgical and relief veterinary services to practices in New Jersey.

The aforementioned unique employment and training opportunities have enabled Dr. Cudia to gain considerable experience and expertise in the surgical management of disease in small animals under the direct guidance of Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Dr. Cudia is an active member of the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association , the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Jersey Shore Veterinary Medical Association.  His detailed curriculum vitae and a list of references are available upon request.
 
Daniel Vinai is a full-time surgical assistant with Veterinary Surgical Services.  Prior to employment with VSS, Daniel was a veterinary assistant in general veterinary practice for five years and a merchandising manager in retail for three years.  When circumstances allow, he enrolls in courses towards a bachelor’s degree in English Literature.
Andrew Locha, a New Jersey Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), is a 2002 graduate of the Johnson College Veterinary Technician Program.  Andrew brings 4 years of veterinary technical experience and certification in Canine First Aid and CPR to Veterinary Surgical Services.  He is a part-time technician and surgical assistant with Veterinary Surgical Services and aspires to be a veterinarian in the future.
BillieJo Gifford, a New Jersey Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), is a part-time technician and surgical assistant with Veterinary Surgical Services.  BillieJo brings 6 years of experience as a technician to VSS.  She is co-director of the “Saved By A Whisker” stray kitten adoption program at her full-time place of employment, Lanoka Oaks Veterinary Center (www.lanokaoaks.com), in Lanoka Harbor, NJ.
